Unlike a rebuy, an add-on does not depend on your chip count: everyone still in can take one when the rebuy period ends, and it is often priced as a bigger stack than the one you started with. It also arrives at the moment the blinds start to bite, so the chips buy real playing time. Decline it only if you are already deep enough that the extra chips would change no decisions.
